Woke up, hungover, this Monday 'morn.
The lights are on, but, there ain't nobody home.
My alarm didn't wake me up on time.
Should have known it then, should have seen it as a sign.
'Cause it's raining outside, and my car windows are down.
My computer's happy-face has turned into a frown.
My hard-drive's gone soft and my fax is on the blink.
I ain't superstitious, but, I'm beginning to think...

I should have stayed in bed today.
Let the world just slip away.
Turn the answer-machine on.
'Cause I got nothin' to say.
Should have stayed in bed this morning.
Held onto that alpha state.
Could have slept the day away, had I only known my fate...

Now, the boss is on the phone.
Through fiber-optic cable I hear him shout.
The cat threw-up in my shoes, and the dog didn't make it out.
Sour milk on my cereal, the micro blew up my egg.
Think I might be catching a cold, but, with my luck,
it's probably the plague.
Should have stayed in bed today.
Let the world just slip away.
Turn the answer-machine on,
'Cause I got nothing to say.
Should have stayed in bed this mornin'.
Held onto that alpha state.
Could have slept the day away, had I only known my fate...

Time to cut my losses.
Dot my I's, make sure my T's have crosses.
The mathematics of time-travel are not part of the quotient.
It's too late to turn back now, those wheels are set in motion.

Should have stayed in bed today.
Let the world just slip away.
Turn the answer-machine on,
'Cause I got nothing to say.
Should have stayed in bed this mornin'.
Held onto that alpha state.
Could have slept the day away, had I only known my fate.
Should have stayed in bed today.
Let the world just slip away.....
